Join Art Travel and Claire Chamberlain for a day out in the Franklin district meeting local artists.
Franklin stretches from the Awhitu Peninsula across to Clevedon and out to Maraetai on the East Coast. Our day focuses on the area around Pukekohe and Waiuku. The foodbowl of Auckland.
Depart Auckland City and head south toward the Bombay Hills.
Our first stop is in Pukekohe to visit the Franklin Art Centre and grab a coffee. Enjoy a selection of ceramics from the Portage Trust Collection and a couple of local artists.
Head over to Waiuku to discover sculptures by local artist and Venice Biennale participant Fred Graham. Drop into the studio of Iain Cheesman to learn about his practice as both a sculptor and painter. Stop for lunch in Waiuku and meet local artist Melanie Ross to learn about her practice.
